Il termine siciliano carusi letteralmente significa "ragazzi". Siccome in passato, a causa delle disagiate condizioni economiche, le famiglie mandavano a lavorare i ragazzi ben presto, per renderli fonte di sia pur magro guadagno e per dare loro un mestiere, con l'occupazione essi assumevano la configurazione di "garzoni" o "apprendisti".
Una volta c'era la consuetudine di rasare completamente la testa dei giovassimi lavoratori e tale tip di taglio veniva definito, in siciliano, carusu.
Per fortuna, non devi avere la testa rasata per venire a mangiare la pizza!
Carusi is a Sicilian word which literally means "boys". In the past, in difficult economical times, families would send their youngsters to work at a very early age. Although the pay was poor, they would then learn a skill that would be useful in the future. They then became an "apprentice" or a "baker's boy".
It used to be a tradition to shave the young workers' head. The Sicilian term carusu describes this hairdo.
